Developing and Marketing Software ProductsJohn McMillan is a software engineer; he gets software to work for users. If you need more information from your IT, John can almost certainly provide it for you. If you need to configure software - a database perhaps - to provide an application, this is what John does. He can write special programs if that provides the best solution. John works as a freelance. He has spent many years configuring and adapting software and can bring many years of experience to you. He has produced several packages, from accounting software for former computer giant ICL, through to generation of legal forms. But John is not just a technical expert, he has a deep understanding of business issues (he's the President of the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce), so he can understand what a user wants. He has a reputation for getting to the bottom of a problem and finding the best solution. He has set up and run software houses, including a division of publishers Shaw & Sons. He has run McMillan Technology as a software house that marketed and supported a town planning enforcement system. As well as software development, he markets his knowledge of the software industry to other companies and has helped universities spin out and market their intellectual property. Put simply, he brings software to market. |
