Personal details

In a long career, John has many achievements. These are some of his favourites.

Commercial

Creating a software division for a publisher who had no IT skills, building turnover to £750K (25% of the group) and number 2 position in the market. More

Working in an alliance with Guildford Borough Council to produce a package which he sold to over 20 councils. More

Guiding the sales force of traditional computer maker ICL into the new territory of open systems. More

Sudbury Chamber of Commerce

Took over the chair when the Chamber was almost moribund and completely revived it.

John lead numerous campaigns, almost all successful, especially one to revive Sudbury's North Street. Within 6 years Sudbury was found to be the best performing town centre in the UK. Sudbury is one of the few small market towns with a thriving retail scene.

He took over a project to provide a town manager; this had dragged on for 10 years. The manager was appointed within 18 months of John's involvement.

Other

On New Years Eve 2004 organising a collection for the boxing day tsunami. It raised £3,300. The collection went on to raise £13,500.

Running the Half Moon Folk Club, Putney during 1973, a club frequented by legends like Ralph McTell, Wizz Jones and Noel Murphy. The gig on Christmas Eve featuring the JST band was reckoned to be one of the true greats.
